I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of waking up with a bird's nest on top of my head!
Before finding out about proper hair care (and the proper products), my hair was dry, dead and brittle. Now I’ve transformed into Rapunzel, it grows quickly, tangle-free and it’s extra shiny, which is always a bonus!
In this blog, I’ll be discussing how to tame that curly hair and giving you simple tips on how to improve your hair care routine!
The Basics of Hair Care
I’m here to tell you some simple tricks that’ll help improve your hair, whether it be curly, thin, frizzy, thick, straight or all the above! With my help. Your hair will be shining in no time while maintaining it’s healthy structure!
How often should I wash my hair?
Does washing your hair clear away the dirt, oils and build-up? Well, yes - but washing your hair too often can strip your hair of its natural oils, leaving your scalp dry and exposed to toxins.
The scalp's natural oils keep your hair naturally soft and luscious, and aid in protecting your hair from natural elements (like the sun and wind).
I wash my hair every second or third day, so my natural oils have a chance to work their magic.
Are sulphates bad for my hair?
Sulphates are overenthusiastic cleaners. Sure, they're great at scrubbing away dirt and toxins, but they don't know when to stop. They will strip away not only the harmful stuff but also the good – your hair's natural oils. Your hair goes from "fresh and fabulous" to "dry and brittle" in no time!
We ensure our products avoid sulphate like the plague! Our Hydrating Natural Shampoo Bar with Coconut Oil has no traces of sulphate to keep your hair smooth and silky, while also preventing damage!
Which type of pillow should I use for healthy hair?
Normal, cotton pillowcases absorb moisture, which is not beneficial for your skin or hair. It retains bacteria that can leave your hair frizzy and oily, and the loss of moisture leaves hair looking lifeless and flat – which isn’t a good look for anyone.
A satin pillow reduces friction, which reduces breakage! You’ll be Rapunzel in no time.
What's the proper hair-washing technique?
It’s all good to wash your hair in the shower, but if you don’t get into the roots and scalp, it may leave your hair vulnerable to breakage.
If you massage your scalp gently in circular motions, it stimulates blood circulation -promoting hair growth- and ensures no product is left behind to create build-up, as product build-up can lead to heavy and lifeless hair.
Can hair styling damage my hair?
Hairdryers, straighteners, and curling tongs can be your best friends when it comes to styling, but your worst enemies for overall hair health.
So, here’s the deal: excessive heat can turn your luscious locks into something that resembles overcooked spaghetti. Not ideal, right?
First off, turn down the heat! Most styling tools come with different temperature settings, and your hair will thank you for choosing the lowest one that gets the job done. This helps minimise the damage and reduces the chances of your hair throwing a temper tantrum.
But wait, there's more! Heat protectant products are your hair's BFFs in this heaty situation. These magical potions create a shield between your strands and the scorching heat. Just spritz or apply them before styling!
Which ingredients are the best for shiny hair?
It’s easy to feel overwhelmed in the hair care aisle with all those shiny bottles and fancy labels, promising miracles for your hair. But fret not, because I've got some friendly advice to help you navigate this labyrinth of hair products.
Here are the ingredients we recommend looking for:
Argan oil is a girl’s best friend, it’s rich in fatty acids and Vitamin E. This helps in throwing dandruff out the door and tames that wild frizz. Also, it makes your hair feel as smooth as silk, while also forming a protective shield around your locks!
Shea Butter is the ultimate moisture-locking magician for your hair, making it soft and luxurious, while also protecting your strands from the suns UV rays! To make this magical ingredient even better, it soothes an irritated scalp due to its anti-inflammatory qualities.
Coconut oil is like a tall glass of water for thirsty hair. It’s also the ultimate frizz-fighting champion, due to its natural properties.
Not only this, but the ingredient also nourishes your scalp and promotes hair growth so that you’ll be Rapunzel’s twin!
