World Environment Day is here, so what better time to think about some swaps you can make in your day-to-day routine to reduce your footprint?
What is World Environment Day?
World Environment Day occurs every year on 5th June to raise awareness on the environmental challenges the world is facing. Each year runs with a new theme to spotlight a particular issue which needs to be addressed.
What is the World Environment Day 2023 theme?
With more than 400 million tonnes of plastic produced in the world every year, the theme for World Environment Day this year focuses on solutions to plastic pollution the campaign #BeatPlasticPollution. The aim is to show how we, as individuals, companies and countries as a whole, can use plastic more sustainably in an effort to end plastic pollution for good.
How can I celebrate World Environment Day?
If you’d like to get involved, there are a few ways you can make a difference. Firstly, you can educate yourself on the theme of the year, find out what the key issues are and how we need to change. You can choose to run an event which tackles the theme problem and register this with World Environment Day.
What can I do for World Environment Day and beyond?
Change your purchasing habits
The changes you make don’t need to be drastic to make an impact; Even the smallest swaps can add up to make a big difference.
Reusable Metal Razor
If you haven’t already made the switch from the plastic razor you’ve only ever known, we’re here to help. Did you know that in the US, an estimated 2 billion disposable razors end up in landfill each year? That means over 63 disposable razors go into landfill every single second. Don’t believe us? Read more on the truth about disposable razors here.
Our premium blades and luxury reusable metal handle make light work of shaving, all while leaving minimal environmental impact. Once it’s time to change your blade, don’t forget to save these up and send them back to us to be recycled using our in-house scheme.
15 million pounds of plastic waste is created by the deodorant industry annually, with traditional plastic-encased deodorants being a big issue. But now with sustainable options becoming more readily available, it’s an easy switch to make in your personal care routine.
Our Natural Deodorant Balm naturally neutralises odour and absorbs sweat, while also moisturising and nourishing the skin. Bursting with Grapefruit, citrus and peppermint oils for a fresh uplifting scent, we’re sure it’ll be a new staple in your routine.
Eco Toilet Gel
Wet wipes are a huge environmental issue, still to be properly addressed in Britain and around the world. Friends of the Earth found that river-cleaning teams have discovered hundreds of thousands of wet wipes flushed down London toilets have formed a new riverbed in the Thames, with the same going for other rivers around the world too.
Wype brings an alternative to traditional toilet wipes with their Natural Gel, for a clean experience that doesn’t cost the planet. Designed to turn regular toilet paper into an eco-friendly wet wipe, all you need to do is squeeze gel onto toilet paper and there you have it!

Change your lifestyle habits
Reduce, reuse and recycle
Think about the products you’re using and consider whether they can be reused for something else. Get as creative as you can with upcycling your products or packaging. If it can’t be reused, can the product you’re using be recycled?
Conserve water usage
Water is a vital resource which takes a lot of energy to process to be usable. We should all be taking no more than 4 minute showers to help reduce our water consumption. Shaving your legs in the shower tends to double shower time, so try to turn off water when shaving other than when you need to rinse. Don’t forget to turn the water off while you’re brushing your teeth too.
Try clothes swaps with friends
Instead of going shopping for brand new clothes, why not organise a clothes swap with friends every now and then? This way you can all pick up some new pieces, without feeding the fast fashion industry.
